Great upcoming news for all you guys who aren't happy with the cell phone provider you have. Thanks to a Superior Court Judge in California who ruled that charging an early termination fee as illegal, you soon will no longer be charged to cancel your contract(so they claim.) Sprint was already ordered to give back $18.2 in reimbursements. Too bad I've never been a Sprint customer but I was with Nextel...and since sprint and nextel merged I wonder how that would work out for me?? I had to pay $250 to cancel.ugh! The down side of this proposal, the fees are pretty much critical to the carriers' business so when they heard the cell phone providers didn't take a liking to this ruling. Now, they're looking for a better way to classy up the term "termination fee" because this is how they intend to lock the customer up in their contract for years to come. Sneaky. I know. So if the whole "no cancellation fee" doesn't stick...there is still hope for at least lowering the cost of the termination fee as you get closer to end of your contract date. Lucky for me though I won't be cancelling with verizon anytime soon, it's an awesome network and I just got a new phone that I LOVE!!
